Accessing CHANL Equipment

Researchers wishing to gain access to CHANL equipment will need to complete a safety training course, and attend one or more training sessions for the instrumentation they wish to use. Follow the steps below to become trained and gain access to the instrumentation.

Non-UNC users should contact CHANL for access procedures.

  • All lab personnel are required to complete the UNC Laboratory Orientation and Managing Hazardous Waste class. All students and staff working in a laboratory setting are required to attend this class before performing experiments and this may have been part of joining your research group.

  • Fill out the CHANL access form , and obtain your advisor’s signature.

  • Contact CHANL to discuss the experiments you wish to do, and to schedule instrument training time.

  • Attend instrument training, and receive approval for instrument usage.

Approved UNC users will be given access to the lab 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
